Spotlight on Stephanie Scarborough
Doughnut Sonnet No. 55
On the front cover of the tabloid news,
Next to the picture of the three-eyed man,
Below the headline, "MARTIANS GIVE CASHEWS
TO NAZI WAITRESSES IN AMSTERDAM
IN PLOT TO RULE THE WORLD!", in tiny print:
"WORLD'S LARGEST DOUGHNUT FOUND IN HITLER'S GRAVE!!"
So I packed some fresh underwear and went
To find this monstrous morsel that I crave.
When I had dug straight down through Hitler's grave
No big, humongous doughnut greeted me,
But some kind men in suits took me and gave
Me a nice jacket, room, and board for free.
I don't know why they brought me here, but I
Believe I'll give those padded walls a try.
About Stephanie Scarborough
: My mission: to drop a big ol' can of Spam on the proverbial "big toe" of literature. I take my goofiness seriously. I am a pisces, a vegetarian, and wish I could play the accordion. I’ve recently had poetry appear in Nuthouse, Bathtub Gin, Toasted Cheese, Old Red Kimono, Lunatic Moon, Studio One, Raw Nervz, Love Words, Bovine Free Wyoming!, First Class, Liquid Ohio and others and fiction appear in Rant-O-Rama and Planet Relish. I also draw cartoons and listen to polka.
