Dirty Minds

She said girls were dirty
too dirty even to pray
for redemption of our red-soaked
souls the shade of apples
ripe with unholy thoughts
even as he read the Torah
thirteen and dirt-stained to the core.

 

Amy Cohen: Amy Cohen is a recent alumna from Brandeis University. She was a contributing editor to her school's literary magazines, Where the Children Play and Laurel Moon. Amy lives in Boston where she is currently busy writing her first novel.
